(Re-)Discover silkscreen printing !
The history and uses of serigraphy
Silkscreen printing is an ancestral printing technique of Chinese origin, it goes all the way back to the Song dynasty (960 - 1279).Centuries later, it is still very popular and is used to make high-end prints.
Indeed, this technique allows to apply a large volume of ink per cm^2 compared to other types of printing - 50 times more than offset printing for example.
The result is better opacity, higher ink resistance (mechanical, chemical, and light resistance), as well as the ability to create relief and other tactile effects.
Thanks to screen printing, it is also possible to apply special inks such as conductive and security inks, or other materials like creams or perfumes.Your imagination’s the limit.
Moreover, it is inexpensive and quite simple to implement and use.
Most of the time, it is combined with digital printing or offset printing. These are complementary techniques.
