• General Presentation

The COMET + is a generic machine which provides the label printer many solutions with multiple operations. This unit was launched onto the market place in 1997 and as with the rest of the SMAG Range has been upgraded with many new technical features and options.

• Objectives / Functions

The Comet+ comprises of a large range of machines (18 models available) with multiple functions such as :

- Inspection Slitter Rewinder : Standard functions of a C4R+ inspection, slitting, rewinding…
- Printing, rotary die cutting and converting machine (roll to roll or roll to sheet) : Realize in line the production of blank labels, mono or bi colors.
- RFID converting machine with the RFID option
- Converting rolls printed on other printing presses. This press is particularely adapted for the finishing of rolls printed with Digital press. (cf Comet digital and solutions for converting digital applications).

• General Presentation

The COMET+ RFID system provides an insertion facility into any pre-printed self adhesive web.
As with all the COMET+ range of options, the RFID solution can be installed during the construction of the machine or retrofitted at a later date.

• Purposes / Functions

The converting process is as follows:
- Unwinding of pre printed undiecut reel,
- Delamination of the face material from the carrier,
- Insertion of the RFID label, placed accurately into a predetermined position in the web.
- Relamination of the carrier and face materials.
- Die cutting in-register with a 360° re-register system,
- Waste striping and rewinding,
- Length slitting and triming,
- Finished label rewinding.

• Advantages

- Heasy handling for short and medium run : set up time reduced and low waste level.
- Is only one option of the Comet+ : It means that the press can be also dedicaced to other functions.
